Light- Color- Passion

Impressionism is a joyful art form.

Joy allows us to see the good, beautiful, and true.

To be an Impressionist begins with the joy of being alive.

The Impressionists worked diligently to make their work look gentle and effortless.  Yet like them, we who venture to work in this art form will be perfected through work, not so much from methods or technique, but through the rigors inherent in this way of seeing and communicating the moment. Such is achieved through the sincerity of being true to ourselves. It takes time to grow as an artist in method and technique yet spreading the joy of painting can be immediate.

Light Transcends Matter

Nothing can be seen without light, and where would we be without it. Light stimulates our sight, and when split, we see its color.

Light Augments Color

Light changes the appearance of things; the same object seen at different times of day, weather conditions, and seasons look different in its visual manifestation. The Impressionist painters would carefully capture the effects of light on their subject by painting what color their eyes actually perceived.

Passion Transforms Light & Color

An inspired heart sees things in an exceptional way; it delights in sensations of the moment, which is central to the Impressionist’s mindset and heart. The Postimpressionist painters saw their world through the lens of their passion for color.
